As a freshman at Geneva College, you will be enrolled in a Learning and Transition Course. The primary purpose of L&T is to help students flourish. The course prepares students by focusing on promoting higher levels of academic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal performance within the college environment. In order to accomplish this goal, students will develop skills useful for navigating college life. In effect, this course explores Geneva's commitment to a Biblical Worldview and the topic of calling and vocation as its primary subject matter. As we frame the college experience for students, we sincerely hope that L&T will enhance and enrich students' overall learning experience at Geneva- both inside and outside the classroom.
The Beta program is intended to help students discover more of their leadership potential, expand their leadership knowledge, and gain a better understanding of how to engage their leadership potential on Geneva′s campus both now and in the future. The program covers a variety of topics and engages in various activities that are relevant to developing college students as servant leaders – empowered to serve on campus, in the church, and in the community.
Students are nominated by faculty or staff and then receive an invitation to enter this program. BETA is not for credit, but rather a voluntary program that meets once a week during the first half of the spring semester. Students connect with one another, discover their gifting, and discern where to focus their leadership potential in ways that strengthen Christ’s Kingdom and bring restoration to humanity through initiating productive change.
